Frederick Siebert

CHAFFEE -- Frederick Michael Siebert, 86, died Jan. 19, 2004, at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

Born Jan. 30, 1917, at Ste. Genevieve, son the late Anton P. and Margareth M. Simon Siebert, he was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the Southwest Pacific Theater and receiving the Bronze Star at New Guinea. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee and St. Ambrose Men's Club. A member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6420 in Scott City, he was also a member of the Chaffee VFW Post 3127, a White House retreat member and had served on the Board of Directors with the Farm Bureau.

On Aug. 7, 1948, he married Hilda M. Schilli who preceded him in death on June 15, 2003.

Survivors include: two sons, Michael Siebert of Montgomery, Ala., and Francis Siebert of Chaffee; two daughters, Mary Schroepfer of Fenton and Paula Horrell of Chaffee; two brothers, Cletus Siebert of Ste. Genevieve and Rev. Anthony Siebert of Belize, Central America; one sister, Mary Ann Meyer of Ste. Genevieve; and 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph Siebert, John Siebert and Paul Siebert.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee with parish prayers at 7 p.m. followed by KC prayers at 7:15 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee. The Revs. Anthony Siebert and Ralph Duffner will officiate.

Burial will follow with full military honors in the St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery at Chaffee.

Pallbearers will be: Michael Siebert, Stephen Siebert, Vincent Horrell, Levi Horrell, Daniel Siebert and Anthony Siebert.
