Dawsey Hollis
BLOOMFIELD - Dawsey Hollis, 83, died June 10, 2003, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born March 14, 1920, in Bernie, son of the late Jim and Alma Virginia Hopgood Hollis, he lived in the Puxico and Bloomfield communities all his life. He was a farmer and log hauler.
On July 22, 1939, in Gideon, he married Geneva McGinley who preceded him in death on Nov. 23, 1990.
Also preceding him in death were one son, William Dawsey Hollis; two daughters, Shirley Taylor and Geraldine McCarthy; six brothers, Alec Hollis, Ralph Hollis, Frank Hollis and three in infancy; three sisters, Lillie Hollis, Juanita Shrum and Halcyon Sanders; and three grandchildren.
Survivors include: two daughters, Rosie Luttrell of Poplar Bluff and Virginia Gray of Malden; one daughter-in-law, Carolyn Hollis of Parma; one sister, Dicie Whiffen of Poplar Bluff; and nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday.
Burial will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
