CARUTHERSVILLE -- A 12-year-old Caruthersville boy drowned after being pushed into the Mississippi River Friday. According to the Missouri State Water Patrol, at 5 p.m. a group of juveniles were playing near a barge when one juvenile, Rontrez Carter, was pushed into the water. Carter, who was a non-swimmer, surfaced twice then was not seen again...

A 12-year-old Caruthersville boy drowned after being pushed into the Mississippi River Friday.

According to the Missouri State Water Patrol, at 5 p.m. a group of juveniles were playing near a barge when one juvenile, Rontrez Carter, was pushed into the water. Carter, who was a non-swimmer, surfaced twice then was not seen again.

The incident was reported at 11:23 p.m. Saturday and the body was recovered by a local citizen at 12:30 a.m. today and taken to Cottonwood Point.
