Call 471-6636

I'm calling about whoever wrote in about needing more taxis. I'd like to say why can't you people lay off the taxis? It wouldn't matter if they had 10 cars, you would still find something to complain about. If it wasn't the taxis, it would be people on welfare. Some of you people don't have nothing else to do but complain. You think the dispatcher forgets where you're at? So let me tell you, I don't think so. Some of you people don't even know where you're at or where you've been, much less where you're going. I was in a cab the other day, and this poor girl, she was picking me up at Wal-Mart. The dispatcher asked me if I was in a hurry. I told her no and we got all the way up to McDonald's. She turned around, went back to Wal-Mart. The girl hadn't even checked out, she was still in the check out line. We sat there for a while and finally the dispatcher told us to leave, she could call back. So, why don't you people just lay off? Put yourself in their spot and see if you can do any better.

My wife and I did our part and bought a car that runs on E85. There's two stations in Sikeston, which is great. But we went to St. Louis for a Cardinal game and to go shopping. I was really upset. They contribute so much more to pollution up in St. Louis, and yet you can't find any E85 stations up there. Nothing is advertised on the billboards up there like it is here. I think our Congress lady needs to do something about that. They are a big polluter and they need to pull their weight too. As more E85 cars are introduced, they need to get fuel systems up there. We had to burn regular gas.

I would like to give a big thank you to Mr. Roscoe Vaughan and Mrs. Kinder and Anna Belle for the scrumptious dinner at the Ladies American Legion 80th anniversary dinner. It was greatly appreciated.

I just heard that Kentucky and Illinois minimum wage went up. Hey Mr. Blunt, where's Missouri's? Employers complain when the minimum wage goes up in factories and such. When postage goes up, which is quite often, postal workers get a raise. Truckdrivers get a raise when gas goes up. Doctors raise their prices for procedures so they can pay their employees a raise. The school teachers get a raise when everybody's taxes go up. So, poor people need a raise also. We pay taxes, too!

Illinois and Kentucky are following our lead. Missouri approved a raise in minimum wage in November. It went into effect January 1.
