SIKESTON - Appointment of a 17-member finance committee to direct solicitation of $75,000 in funds needed in connection with construction and initial operation of Missouri Delta Community Hospital was announced Wednesday by E.P. Coleman Jr., chairman of the hospital committee.
SIKESTON - U.S. Senators Stuart Symington and Edward V. Long and U.S. Congressman Paul Jones have advised the Daily Sikeston Standard by telegram that the Army Corps of Engineers is letting a contract for $1,391,200 for construction of a timber piling clump and stone-filled dikes on the Mississippi River near Cape Girardeau and Cairo.
NEW MADRID - State forests in the Bootheel are on the increase. Since voters approved the one-eighth cent sales tax for the Missouri Department of Conservation, the department has acquired 3,000 acres at various spots in the Bootheel.
CHARLESTON - Two directors will be elected for three-year terms and one director is to be elected for a one-year unexpired term in the April 7 election for the board of directors in the R-1 School District.
