Ova Smith

BLOOMFIELD - Ova Jeanette Smith, 89, formerly of Sikeston, died Sept. 19, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born March 3, 1914, in Clinton, Ark., daughter of the late Samuel Obediah and Amanda Jane Tucker Mowery, she was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Sikeston. She had been a seamstress and was a volunteer with the Foster Grandparent Program for 15 years.

On Jan. 14, 1932, at Clinton, she married Hermon Harvey Smith who preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 2002.

Survivors include: one daughter, Pam Westmoreland of Bloomfield; one sister, Eileen Hampton of Bolivar; four grandchildren, Randy Westmoreland of Morehouse, Maresa Green of Bloomfield and Tamela Burrow and Wesley Westmoreland of Denton, Texas; and eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Edward Mowery and Coniver Mowery; and two sisters, Opal Mowery and Edna Eades.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday.

Burial will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
