Velma Clemons
CHARLESTON - Velma Clemons, 91, died Sept. 16, 2003, at her home.
Born Nov. 18, 1911, in Kemper County, Miss., daughter of the late Warren and Jessie Belle Wilson Germany, she was a member of Sanders Chapel AME Church in Wyatt.
She was first married to George Evans in Mississippi and later married Stennis F. Clemons in Missouri. They preceded her in death.
Survivors include: four sons, Joe M. Brown of Detroit, Mich., Stennis Clemons Jr. of Saginaw, Mich., Johnny Clemons of Cape Girardeau and Phill Clemons of Charleston; two daughters, Margarett Hunt of Chicago, Ill., and Yvonnie Mack of Jefferson City; four stepdaughters, Virginia Crider, Etta Stockson and Ira Gordon of Charleston and Pauline Lewis of South Bay, Fla.; one brother, Louis Germany of New York; and 46 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. Saturday until service time at 1 p.m. at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Charleston. The Rev. Debbis Thornton and the Rev. Larry Tarver, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
