SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - Leatha Elizabeth Rister, 83, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died at 4:15 p.m. Sept. 10, 2003, at Baptist DeSoto Hospital in Southaven.

Born Sept. 4, 1920, in Cape Girardeau, Mo., daughter of the late Grover and Esther Snider Hitt, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Methodist Women's Club in Sikeston.

On Aug. 28, 1940, in Benton, Mo., she married Ebert Rister who preceded her in death on July 22, 1995.

Survivors include: one son, Gerald W. "Jerry" Rister of Olive Branch; one daughter, Joan Elizabeth Rister McCrory of Round Lake, Ill.; two brothers, Roby Hitt of Cape Girardeau and Paul Hitt of Sikeston; two sisters, Marie Stalon of Cape Girardeau and Myrtle Reed of Wood River, Ill.; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Five brothers also preceded her in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Bill Koch, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery near Commerce.
