Mary C. Smith

DEXTER - Mary Celestia Smith, 98, died Sept. 20, 2004, at the Cypress Point Healthcare in Dexter.

Born Nov. 14, 1905, at Ozark County to the late Richard Alvin Owen and Mary Susan North Owen, she was a homemaker and a member of the Dexter Church of Christ.

On Nov. 7, 1925, at Dora, she married Oscar William Smith, who preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 1991.

Survivors include: two sons, James E. Smith of Statesville, N.C., and Ishmael Smith of Dexter; two daughters, Patricia Ann Hessling and Loretta Wickenhauser of Dexter; and 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Ella Mae Smith and Betty Ruth Smith; four brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time for services at noon Friday at the Dexter Church of Christ in Dexter. Dale Grissom will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery under the direction of the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home.
