SIKESTON - Joe Leslie has opened an insurance office at the Scott County Milling Company building, taking one room in the suite now occupied by attorney W.P. Wilkerson.

SIKESTON - Miss Ellen Sarno, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Samuel Sarno, was notified she has been accepted for the fall term at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. She has applied to several other schools, too, and will wait to hear from them before making her final choice.

MORLEY - The Scott Central Bravettes have qualified for the Missouri State basketball tournament with an undefeated record, 26-0. Coach Fred Johnson's team will meet Portageville in the first round.


SIKESTON - Allen Laffoon, 43, has been named District 10 Engineer for the Missouri Highway Department. He will move to Sikeston from Jefferson City. Laffoon takes over April 1.

SIKESTON - Area adults are apparently not the only individuals feeling the recent effects of the flu and other viruses. The pediatrics unit of Missouri Delta Medical Center has experienced a high volume of patients for the past two weeks. Although the unit cares for an average of six to eight patients, the number has increased to 14.


DEXTER - In a nutshell, it was New Madrid County Central's season replayed during the 32 minutes of Tuesday's game. Bad passes. Loose balls. Poor shots. No rebounds. Weak defense. Frustration. Nightmares. And another unexplainable loss. This one counted as Dexter eliminated the Eagles from 3A District 1 contention in 65-58 fashion.
