Walter Kearbey

SIKESTON - Walter Kearbey, 91, died March 4, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Born March 29, 1910, in Caraway County, Ark., son of the late Sam and Rosemary Ray Kearbey, he attended the First Church of the Nazarene. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired as a self-employed automotive mechanic.

On June 10, 1997, in Sikeston, he married Lorene Williams who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: five sons, Tom Kearbey, Don Kearbey, Bill Kearbey and Ted Kearbey of Sikeston and Bob Kearbey of Coos Bay, Ore.; three stepdaughters, Faye Dickerson of Cape Girardeau, Phyllis Haynes of Mojave, Calif., and Ruth Kearbey of Sikeston; and 12 grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.

Two sons and one stepson preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home, where services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Lee Fansler, pastor of the Blodgett Baptist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Mike Hardin, Gene Basinger, James McCormick, Randy Green, William Beck and Joe Crawford.
