MURPHYSBORO, Ill. - Patricia "Pat" Whistle, 75, died at 2:45 a.m. Dec. 14, 2004.

Born April 1, 1929, in Charleston, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Ralph Noisworthy and Clara Vowels Noisworthy. On March 18, 1948, she married Don Whistle who preceded her in death on May 24, 1999.

A devoted wife to Don for 51 years, Pat was his partner in their farming operations at Sikeston, Mo., and Gorham. She took great pride in being a wife, mother and homemaker. She worked for the Covenant Christian School in Carbondale from 1986-95 and was a volunteer at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale from 1995-2003. Pat attended the Carbondale Church of Christ for 40 years. She was a very humble woman who preferred not to be in the spotlight. Throughout her life, she quietly served the Lord in a multitude of ways.

Pat lovingly raised four children, all of whom survive: Cathie and husband Michael Comerio of Stilwell, Kan.; Craig and wife Donna Whistle of Ava; Chet and wife Joni Whistle of Lancaster, Ohio, and Laura Cates Duncan and husband Michael Cates of Murphysboro.

She spent many, many hours caring for each of her 10 grandchildren: Erica Comerio, Damon Comerio, Evan Comerio, Carrie Whistle Witthoft and her husband Dave Witthoft, Stephanie Whistle King and her husband Dan King, Kyle Whistle and his wife Prudence Whistle, Brandon Whistle and his wife Dana Whistle, Kelly Whistle Fox and her husband Brian, Clayton Cates, and Tyler Cates and his fiancee, Danielle. Pat was also great-grandma to nine great grandchildren and is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Joyce Noisworthy of Florissant, Mo.

Services were conducted at 1 p.m. today at the Church of Christ in Carbondale with Steve Shaffer and Mark Wingo officiating.

Burial followed in the Glenn Cemetery.

Pettett Funeral Home of Murphysboro was in charge of arrangements.
