Halcyon Sanders
BLOOMFIELD - Halcyon Sanders, 87, died March 5, 2003, at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter.
Born July 1, 1915, in Bernie to the late James W. and Alma Virginia Hobgood Hollis, she had spent most of her life in the Bloomfield community. A member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bloomfield, she had retired from Elder Manufacturing in Bloomfield in April 1978 after more than 30 years of service.
On Oct. 20, 1934, she married William Avis Sanders, who preceded her in death on Sept. 17, 1956.
Also preceding her in death were a granddaughter, a great-grandson, six brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include: one son, Carl Sanders of Poplar Bluff; two daughters, Maxine Vaughn of Bloomfield and Helen White of Big Fort, Mont.; one brother, Dawsey Hollis of Bloomfield; one sister, Dicie Whiffen of Poplar Bluff; and 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Also an "honorary daughter," Sharon Gaughan of Bloomfield, survives.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield where services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Revs. Louie Medlin and Ron Dunavin will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
