SIKESTON - James Albert Lewis Sr., 64, died April 20, 2005, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Born June 9, 1940, in Black Oak, Ark., to the late George Albert and Lena Maude Washburn Lewis, he was of the Assembly of God belief. He was a concrete contractor, working for Cowan Construction and later self-employed until his retirement.

Survivors include: one son, James Lewis Jr. of Sikeston; three daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and John Head of Rossford, Ohio, and Sheila and Kenneth Savage and Kimberly and Jamey Merritt of Sikeston; two children implemented into the family, Bobby Gene Gray III and Kendra Nichole Gray of Sikeston; two brothers, Dale Lewis of Lake Alfred, Fla., and Danny Lewis of St. Louis; five sisters, Betty Crossno of O'Fallon, Ill., Bert Luehder of Belleville, Ill., Jewell Crossno of Auburndale, Fla., Brenda King of Sikeston and Teresa Baccus of Fairview Heights, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and the mothers of his children, Mary Lou Freeman and Carol King of Sikeston.

Three grandchildren and one sister preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston where services will be at 2 p.m. Monday. Austin Maxwell will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.
