Call 471-6636

I found a high school ring on the Wal-Mart parking lot on March 7. The shows a home school, has a blue stone and shows a graduation date of 2003. The name is on the ring. The first name begins with H. and the middle name with an A. I can't read the last name well because the ring is damaged but it looks like "Rhody." Please call me at 472-4196 after 3:30 p.m. and tell me your first and middle name. I will be glad to return the ring to you.

The South Scott County EMS personnel need to remember when transporting any patient they should show some compassion. Two of the crew members, while recently transporting a patient, were talking about personal problems in the presence of the patient. Remember, what goes around comes around and some time it may be your family member that is being transported by a crew. Think of how you would want your family treated. It takes just as much time to be nice as it does to be mean.

I'm calling about the situation with the north end of New Madrid County and the New Madrid County School system. The people up here feel like it's time Dr. Barnes and the Board members, if they don't feel like they can run the school anymore, to resign and get out and let somebody get in who can run it as it is until all this turmoil in the world passes and everything goes by.

Mike, I think it is wrong if someone takes the double child support checks. Maybe you have never been in this position, or may not even know someone who has been in this position. A few years ago, I worked to put food on the table for my three children, worked to put clothes on their backs and shoes on their feet. Nobody paid my rent for me, nor did anyone put food on my table. I had to pay the rent myself and buy the food myself for my children to eat. We did not receive Medicaid assistance, although I may have qualified for it. It took me six months to get child support checks because their dad said it was my responsibility now. When I finally received that first support check, I was elated because I finally received the help I so desperately needed. Yes, I might think a second child support check was a gift from God and I probably would cash it, but then I would somehow try to pay it back, even if it were in monthly payments. It was a struggle back then and I know what it's like to need money for clothing and food for my children. May God bless these people. It's not their fault for the mistaken checks. So Mike, until you have walked a mile in that person's shoes, stop and think. What if it were my family?

I am calling about the March 4 article, "Smiles are free." You have it all wrong. It's supposed to say the employees at ER admissions are nice and friendly. When you walk into that hospital, it is such a pleasure to see those smiling faces. They are very, very friendly and we really appreciate them.

The correction was called in and noted. Thank you again.

To the person who found my husband's wallet in Kmart, we don't care about the money in it, but we would like to have the cards, driver's license, Social Security card and all the other belongings back. Call 471-8376 and ask for Mary or George. No questions will be asked.
