Polly Spitzer

PARMA - Polly Ann Spitzer, 64, died June 15, 2003, at her daughter's home in Wentzville.

Born Dec. 23, 1938, in Clarkton, daughter of Elizabeth Tatum Daugherty of Cape Girardeau and the late Tim Daugherty, she was a retired school teacher. She was past director of the Malden Community Choir and served as a committee member of the Bootheel Youth Museum in Malden. A past president of the Malden Country Club Ladies Golf Association and member of the Humane Society of the United States, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Malden, where she was church music director.

On Feb. 7, 1960, in Kennett, she married Richard Frederick "Dick" Spitzer who preceded her in death on April 14, 2001.

Survivors in addition to her mother include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Maribeth and Jan Saige of Cocoa, Fla., and Leigh Spitzer and Doug McCullough of Wentzville; one son, Richard D. Spitzer of Houston, Texas; one brother, Tim Daugherty of Escondido, Calif.; and two granddaughters.

Private graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Elder Cemetery in Campbell.

A memorial service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Malden with the Rev. Bob Phillips officiating.

Landess Funeral Home of Malden is in charge of arrangements.
