George Albrecht

SCOTT CITY - George J.L. Albrecht died May 24, 2003, at his home, after a battle with cancer.

George Julius Louis Albrecht, the son of the late Edna Roth and Louis Albrecht, was born July 18, 1924. He was a dairy farmer for more than 50 years and was co-owner of Albrecht Dairy forms. Albrecht hosted the Girl Scout Day Camp on his farm for several years and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a lifelong member of Eisleben Lutheran Church, where he held many offices.

On April 20, 1952, he married Jane Ann Jones at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors in addition to his wife include: two daughters and one son-in-law, Vicki Howell and Becky and Richard Tapley of Scott City; grandchildren, Adam and Jaime Howell, Brett Howell, Whitney Tapley and Austin Tapley of Scott City; two brothers, Glenn Albrecht of Medford, Ore., and Gordon Albrecht of Scott City; four sisters, Gertrude Roeh of Houston, Texas, Grace Sandager of Wheat Ridge, Colo., Betty Schuba of Polson, Mont., and Lou Albrecht of Fairfield, Conn.; two sisters-in-law, Mabel Albrecht of Scott City and Loraine Albrecht of Clearwater, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Garnett Albrecht and Robert Albrecht.

Loved by all who knew him, you can't say anything else but that he was a sweet man. He will be deeply missed.

Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Eisleben Lutheran Church.

Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel of Scott City was in charge of arrangements.
