NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Virginia Ann Riley, 74, died May 1, 2003, at her home, as she requested, surrounded and cared for by her family and friends.

Born Oct. 19, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Henry Clay and Mary Justine Ransburgh.

"Mama Riley" dedicated her life to working with children, the American Red Cross, Girl Scouts of America, Bible school, public schools and countless other activities. To each of you who were touched by her in your life, you were the light of her life. God bless each of you.

Her husband, George Haynes Riley, preceded her in death.

Also preceding her in death were an infant son, Wayne Riley; and one daughter, Mary Hunter Riley Wolfe.

She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Riley Nash; her son and daughter-in-law, John and Marilyn Riley; two half brothers, Henry Clay and Phillip Ransburgh; her stepmother, Roseanna Ransburgh; grandchildren, Amanda Nash Sacco and her husband, Bryan, Hailey Nash, Zachary Riley, Hunter Riley, Haynes Riley, Erin Riley, Kelsey Riley, Camden Riley and Clay Wolfe and his wife, Megan Wolfe; and one great-grandson, Carson Sacco. Special thanks to Alicia Sweden and Phylis Thomas of Baptist Health Hospice.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the North Little Rock Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1:45 p.m. Saturday at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid, Mo.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Evergreen Cemetery in New Madrid. Ken Davenport, pastor and friend of North Little Rock, will officiate.
