Catherine McCormick
CHARLESTON - Catherine C. McCormick, 97, died at 11:15 a.m. May 19, 2003, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born Dec. 11, 1905, in Mississippi County, daughter of the late Charles Clarence and Barbara Belle Griffith Chamberlain, she was a lifelong resident of Mississippi County. A member of the United Methodist Church in Charleston, she was a teacher in Charleston and rural schools until retiring. Following her retirement, she becae actively involved in the hobby of making ceramics.
Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Jeannine McCormick and Humberto Bernal Moreno of Leton, GTO, Mexico; 10 grandchildren, Christina Bernal dePohls, Cynthia Bernal deAguirre, Elizabeth Bernal deVillalobos, Patricia Bernal deAguirre, Veronica Bernal deHernandez, Humberto Bernal McCormick, Marco Antonio Bernal McCormick, Miguel Angel Bernal McCormick, all of Leon, GTO, Mexico, and Kevin Weakley of Eldon and Kathy Weakly Shy of Jackson; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Janet McCormick Weakley; one brother, the Rev. Ray Chamberlain; and one grandson and five sisters.
Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at McMikle Funeral Home, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday.
Officiating will be her nephew, the Rev. Dow Chamberlain of Nashville, Tenn., and the Rev. Roger Jespersen, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Charleston.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
Pallbearers will be: Kenneth Weakley, Kevin Weakley, David Brewer, Henry Coffer, Jeff Briddick and Don Robertson.
