John Clodfelter
BERNIE -- John L. Clodfelter, 79, died May 19, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born Feb. 21, 1924, in Hope, Ark., son of the late Asa and Ada Elizabeth Kelley Clodfelter, he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bernie and a farmer. A World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a member of Masonic Lodge 573.
On May 18, 1946, in Alabama, he married Lois L. Day who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Karen Hampton of Dexter; two brothers, Ray Clodfelter of Jackson, Miss., and Amos Clodfelter of Grand Blanc, Mich.; three sisters, Ruth Hamlin of Dexter, Laura Nan Ross of Bloomfield and Mary Elizabeth Helsley of Memphis, Tenn.; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Tony Wayne Clodfelter and Kelley Ward Clodfelter.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Susan Marner-Sides and the Rev. Bill Garrett will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Malden Memorial Park Cemetery.
