PADUCAH, Ky. - Areaba Berry Holt, 78, formerly of Charleston, Mo., died April 2, 2002, at the Life Care Center in LaCenter.

Born July 6, 1923, in Charleston, she was the daughter of the late Lennie Boyd and Clara Lee George Berry. She lived in Charleston most of her life before moving to Paducah in 1992, where she was a member of the Olivet Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Carmelita "Meha" and Kenneth Smith of Northbrook, Ill.; two sisters, Flossie Williams and Lindell Fowler of Charleston; and three grandchildren, Michele Smith of Richfield, Pa., Kimberly Smith of Chicago, Ill., and Joseph Valha of Aurora, Ill.

Visitation is from 5 p.m. Friday until service time at 7 p.m. at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Thomas Tucker, pastor of the Olivet Baptist Church, will officiate.

Private graveside services will be conducted at Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
