Marguerite Thurman
ANNISTON - Marguerite Barnhill Thurman, 93, died at 8:40 p.m. Oct. 4, 2002, at the Jackson Manor Nursing Center.
Born Aug. 9, 1909, at Kewanee, daughter of the late Luke Winslow and Wilma Leonore Adkins Barnhill, she lived in Anniston most of her life and was a member of the Anniston Christian Church. She retired as a supervisor with the Division of Family Services office in Sikeston.
On Aug. 25, 1929, in Charleston, she married Leonard "Peck" Thurman who preceded her in death on May 24, 1999.
Survivors include: one son, Gary W. Thurman of Oak Ridge; one daughter, Joanie Thurman of East Prairie; four grandchildren, Nick Thurman and John Thurman of East Prairie, Gary Thurman II of Oak Ridge and Julie Thurman Moore of Jackson; and six great-grandchildren, Erin Thurman, Morgan Thurman, Shane Thurman, Joshua Thurman, Kaleb Thurman and Talia Thurman.
Also preceding her in death were one son, Pete Thurman; one brother, Luke Barnhill; one granddaughter, Janie Thurman and one great-granddaughter, Tara Don Lee Thurman.
Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Anniston Cemetery with the Rev. Martin Lucas officiating.
Pallbearers will be: Nick Thurman, John Thurman, Gary Thurman II, Willie Wicker, Frankie Wicker and Jim Blumenberg.
