Rudolph Hayes
NEW MADRID - Charles Rudolph Hayes, 72, died Oct. 2, 2002, at his home.
Born Jan. 20, 1930, in Kewanee, son of the late Mitchell R. and Lela Gentry Hayes, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and past post commander of New Madrid American Legion Post 595 and Lilbourn VFW Post 7183.
In July 1956, at Tunica, Miss., he married Iris Chambliss who preceded him in death.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Charles Douglas and Robin Hayes of Oak Harbor, Wash.; two daughters, Debra Hayes Grobmyer of New Madrid and Holly R. Hayes of St. Louis; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Calvin Hayes and Henry Hayes; and one grandson, Joseph P. Grobmyer.
Services were conducted at 10 a.m. today at Richards Funeral Home with the Rev. David Craig of Sikeston officiating.
Burial followed in the Evergreen Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Eric Grobmyer, John Grobmyer, Dustin Hayes, Jimmy Hayes, Russell Masterson and Jared Jones.
Honorary pallbearers were: Mike Bennett, J.D. Akins, Jack Keck, Ricky Walker, Tom Williams and Dan Kimes.
