~Saint Francis Medical Center accredited in sleep medicine
CAPE GIRARDEAU - The Saint Francis Medical Center Sleep Disorders Center received a Certificate of Accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), making it is the first laboratory in Southeast Missouri to earn this accreditation.
To obtain accreditation, applicants must employ skilled and experienced sleep specialists, provide a comfortable sleep lab environment and develop individualized treatment plans tailored to the unique diagnosis of each patient. This designation signifies that Saint Francis' Sleep Disorders Center exceeds comprehensive clinical care standards for sleep evaluation and treatment. The AASM accreditation is valid for five years.
The AASM is a professional membership organization dedicated to the advancement of sleep medicine and related research. The its mission is to assure quality care for patients with sleep disorders, promote the advancement of sleep medicine, and provide public and professional education. The AASM is the largest professional medical association representing practitioners of sleep medicine and wakefulness.
The Saint Francis Sleep Disorders Center was established in 1990 as the first laboratory in the region offering comprehensive sleep studies.
It is staffed by technicians who are credentialed by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists.
