Elmer Blattel
SCOTT CITY - Elmer Phillip Blattel, 87, died at 10:55 a.m. April 14, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born Sept. 2, 1914, in Ancell, son of the late Fred and May Collie Blattel, he was a salesman for Tom's Chips, had been a salesman for Suedekum Hardware, and was manager of a Rhodes 101 Truck Stop before retiring. A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and VFW Post 6407 in Scott City, he was also a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
On April 25, 1937, he married Evelyn V. Hoffman who preceded him in death on July 29, 1992.
He and Alleen Anna Hoffman Wilhelm were married Aug. 18, 1994, and she survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Barbara Prenger of Poplar Bluff and Mary Lou Reynolds of Cape Girardeau; one stepdaughter, Pat Burton of Scott City; two brothers, Jim Blattel and Bob Blattel of Cape Girardeau; one sister, Doris Holshouser of Cape Girardeau; and six grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, three great-grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
One brother and one sister also preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City where parish prayers are scheduled for 8 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. David Coon officiating.
Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include: Ken Burton and John Lindeman.
