Jess Hooper
BERTRAND - Jess Lee Hooper, 79, died at 8:30 a.m. April 10, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born March 11, 1923, at Grayridge, son of the late Berry "Buck" and Rebecca Tate Hooper, he had lived in Bertrand most of his life where he was a self-employed antique dealer for many years. Employed with the Bertrand Cotton Company for 25 years, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific on the USS Cotten during World War II.
On June 1, 1946, he married Vivian Skelton who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Robert Hooper of Bement; one daughter, Sandra Evans of Sikeston; one sister, Florance Ferrell of Benton; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Hooper and Gene Hooper.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Jim Eskew, pastor of the Church of God of Prophecy, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Bluff Cemetery near Idalia.
Pallbearers will be: David Hurley, Tony Hooper, John Hooper, Mike Parr, David Bridges and Jeff Skelton.
