Any chance that Mike's editorials can be added to the internet copy of the Standard Democrat? Can anyone tell me why we continue to let thousands of people into the United Stated when we have thousands of people out of a job and thousands more who are homeless and hungry. Also, what good does sanctions do to countries except hurt the poor people. It is a known fact that Saddam has built three palaces since the Gulf war. Do you think he and his family have missed a meal? Mike how about an editorial?

Editorials are posted daily on the Web site. Look under columns to find Mike Jensen's opinions on issues.

Will the Sunday edition of the paper ever get on the internet? I think the readers would like to know the process you use to get the paper on the internet.

The Sunday edition of the newspaper is typically posted on the Internet site by 6:30 a.m Monday. Monday through Friday the stories are posted by 5 p.m. on the day of publication.

This is in response to the person writing about Rowe vs. Wade. I agree with a speaker I heard on the radio last week about this issue. I'm Pro-choice! Let the Baby choose to live or die. After all, it is the baby's life at stake, not the mother's.

On Jan. 28, we had the privilege to attend the open Charter Commission meeting. The committee explained the heart of the proposed charter. When opened to the floor the only issue that was discussed was the Board of Municipal Utilities. We understand that the public utilities are owned by the citizens of Sikeston. We also understand that there is a governing board. As we left the meeting, we felt that the only thing in the charter is BMU. There was a member that really got out of hand - language, attitude and personal mannerism was a public disgrace. In fact no one else could get a word in for awhile. This included the chairman. One of the committee was able to get the floor, but the other member would interrupt very rudely but this member was able to answer some of the questions. When I go to a public meeting, I expect elected people to act like adults. (The evening was better than watching TV). I was embarrassed. Now that I have your attention, could someone please explain to me what the charter will change? In reading the proposed charter, I feel that many things will not change in how the city will function.

I would like to SpeakOut, but first of all I would like to find out if I'm still in a First Amendment Zone. If you don't know what a First Amendment Zone is, maybe you should ask our new dictator, John Ashcroft or George Bush.

I don't know if you will print this or not, but this is to all the "Mr. Perfects" in this town who have cheated. I'm not going to defend the wives because they're always defended and they're always pitied. But I'm one who is from the other side of the fence. I am calling about a woman who lived for 22 years with a man who raped, beat and mentally destroyed her. I've seen my mother crawl, drag herself up and go to work. But he was too lazy for us children to have what we wanted and not just what we needed because sometimes that's all that was supplied. I saw him bring a child in out of wedlock and I saw my mother treat that child decently. We never had to worry about a clean bed or clean clothes or food on the table because this lady provided it. But now we're losing our mother. Day by day my mother is dying of cancer. Three times we have had to take my mother to the hospital because she tried to commit suicide over lies and indiscretion. People are telling stuff in this town that is not true about her. You want to meet my real mother? She's a grand lady and I don't know about you, Mr. Perfect, but myself and my siblings don't know how we're going to live without her. She's a beautiful lady and I cannot count the nights I have heard her on her knees begging God not to let her heart be hardened.
