J.F. Cox Jr.

SIKESTON - Jessie F. Cox Jr., 89, died Dec. 25, 2002, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center.

Born Jan. 30, 1913, at Sikeston, son of the late J.F. and Julia Tommey Cox Sr., he was president of Home Oil Company from 1933 until retiring in 1965, had been a founding partner in Homestead Distributing Company, president of the Mississippi County Oil an Gas Company and past president of the Sikeston Jaycees.

In 1931, he married Alberta Masters who preceded him in death on May 31, 1982.

Survivors include: three sons, J.F. "Buddy" Cox, James E. Cox and Albert L. Cox of Sikeston; and nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from noon Friday until time of services at 1 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home. The Rev. Sandra Schaller, associate pastor at First United Methodist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons: J.F. Cox IV, Leven Cox, Jimmy Cox Jr., Justin Cox, Austin Cox and Ryan Juden.
