Roy Williams
SPRINGFIELD -- Roy Lee Williams, 80, died May 11, 2002, at his home.
Born April 30, 1922, in Puxico, son of the late Tom and Cordelia Shoemate Williams, he had lived in Puxico and St. Louis before moving to Springfield 17 years ago. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was a retired dispatcher with a motor trucking company and attended Central Assembly of God Church in Springfield.
On Feb. 26, 1945, in Corning, Ark., he married Wyvonne Thomas who preceded him in death on Feb. 20, 1985.
Survivors include: two sons, John Williams of Springfield and David Williams of Mount Olive, Ill.; two daughters, Gloria Williams and Mary Hulsey of Springfield; one brother, Harold Williams of St. Louis; one sister, Nathalee Colliton of Coconut Creek, Fla.; and five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, David Williams.
Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until service time at 10:30 a.m. at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico. The Rev. Charles Lance of Scott City will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Baker Cemetery in Marble Hill.
