Ed Garner
MARION, Ill. - Edgar Lee "Ed" Garner, 65, formerly of Mississippi County, Mo., died at 12:50 p.m. June 23, 2002, at Memorial Hospital in Marion.
Born June 29, 1936, in Mississippi County, son of the late James Clarence and Myrtle Zuck Garner, he retired from Ford Motor Company in Cleveland, Ohio, before moving to Marion several years ago. A U.S. Air Force veteran and member of the United Auto Workers, he was of the Pentecostal belief.
On April 8, 1956, he married Betty Sue Reynolds who preceded him in death on Aug. 15, 1995.
Survivors include: four sons, Eddie Wayne Garner of Medina, Ohio, Lester Alfred Garner of Chester, Timothy Paul Garner of Berea, Ohio, and Stephen Keith Garner of Strongsville, Ohio; three brothers, Jim Garner of Poplar Bluff, Mo., David Garner of Marion and Glen Garner of Danville, Va.; one sister, Jean Coleman of North Ridgeville, Ohio; and 11 grandchildren.
Two brothers and two sisters also preceded him in death.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. Thursday until service time at 1 p.m. at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, Mo. The Rev. Deon Dutton, a Church of God minister of Harrisburg, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie, Mo.
