SIKESTON - Luther Meredith Lee, 92, died at 11:30 p.m. March 8, 2002, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

Born April 19, 1909, in Sikeston, son of the late Luther and Tessie Fisher Lee, he was a Specialist (C) with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for the Bank of Sikeston for 42 years, Tri-County Bank 13 years and was a member of the First Financial Bank Board of Directors for 12 years. A member of Fellowship Baptist Church, he was also a member of the Missouri Bankers Association, Semo Council of Boy Scouts of America, Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club, Lions Club, Elks Lodge and RSVP.

On Sept. 3, 1955, in Perryville, he married Joanna Herndon who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Meredith Gregory and Laura Lee of Murray, Ky., and Terry Michael and Jackie Herndon of Sikeston; one daughter, Suzanne Lee Harris of Sikeston; one sister, Virginia Delagoski of Galesburg, Ill.; four grandchildren, Jared and Heather Herndon of Sikeston and Rebecca Katherine and Ryan Lee of Murray; and one great-granddaughter, Megan Herndon.

One brother, Ronald Earl "Tookie" Lee, preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Blanchard Funeral Chapel.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe McCullough, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston with full military rites conducted by the Missouri Military Honors Program.

Pallbearers will be Joe W. Gooch, Mike Pobst, Martin Priggel, Charles Hawkins, Jerry Pullen and Dr. Loring Helfrich.
