Herbert Self

WYATT - Herbert Marshall Self, 76, died at 1:12 p.m. Feb. 16, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born May 1, 1925, in Mississippi County, son of the late Charles Watson and Katie Katherine Mizer Self, he was a lifelong resident of Mississippi County. A member of the Wyatt Baptist Church, he retired in 1988 from the Burkhart Company in Cairo, Ill.

On Aug. 29, 1957, he married Shirley Lavon Gish who preceded him in death on April 21, 1986.

Survivors include: one brother, David "Buddy" Self of Wyatt; one sister, Grace Malone of Evansville, Ind.; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Cora Simpson of Sikeston.

Also preceding him in death were one brother, Charles Self; and one sister, Margaret Self.

Visitation will be held from from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Dean Wallace, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Wyatt, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
