Scott Waters
SIKESTON - Wallace E. "Scott" Waters, 80, died Feb. 15, 2002, at his home.
Born Aug. 21, 1921, in Matthews, son of the late Leroy David and Effie Mainord Waters, he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sikeston. He served in the U.S. Army with a field artillery unit in Italy during World War II for which he was awarded a Bronze Star. A former mayor of Matthews, he earned a degree in agribusiness from the University of Missouri and was vice president of production credit.
In November 1960, he married Vivian Hogue Wake who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Gary Wake of Sikeston; one daughter, Karna Ware of Sikeston; one sister, Wanda Stone of Belleville, Ill.; and six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
One son Billy Wake, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday. The Rev. David Jackson, associate pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate.
New Madrid American Legion Post 595 will conduct military graveside rites at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
