Betty Compas
ST. LOUIS - Betty Jean Compas, 73, formerly of Blodgett, died at 9:15 a.m. June 5, 2002, at the Woodland Manor Nursing Home.
Born Oct. 22, 1928, in Blodgett, daughter of the late Earnie and Edna Moore Rister, she was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church in Alton, Ill., and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
On April 20, 1946, in Cape Girardeau, she married Elmer Joseph Compas who preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 1992.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Carmen Compas of St. Louis; three sisters, Margaret McPherson of Benton and Glenda Evans and Brenda Jones of Blodgett; and four grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Leon Rister, Rex Rister and Charles Rister.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and continues from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Alton.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthews Catholic Church with the Rev. Dave Schmidt officiating.
Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, Ill.
