Margaret Letcher

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Margaret E. Letcher, 84, died July 10, 2002.

Born Dec. 15, 1917, in New Market, daughter of the late Dr. Wade Hampton and Ethel Mae Green Esslinger, she was a longtime resident of Birmingham, where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church for many years. She retired from Terminix International Incorporated and was an auxiliary volunteer at St. Vincent's Hospital.

Her husband, Julian C. Letcher, preceded her in death on June 4, 1981.

Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Judy L. and Jerry Aufdenberg of Sikeston, Mo.; two grandsons and granddaughter-in-law, Scott C. Aufdenberg of Roswell, Ga., and Bradley L. and Jennifer Aufdenberg of Germantown, Tenn.; and two great-grandchildren, Benjamin C. Aufdenberg and Emily A. Aufdenberg.

Also preceding her in death were one sister, Phoebe Russell; and one brother, Orville Esslinger.

Graveside services were conducted Saturday at the Montevallo City Cemetery.

Johns Ridout's Funeral Parlors was in charge of arrangements.
