Marie Emerson Hahn

CAPE GIRARDEAU - Marie Emerson Hahn, 88, died May 23, 2005, at Cape Girardeau.

Born Nov. 3, 1916, at Cedar Hill, daughter of the late Frederick Wilhelm Gottlieb "Bill" and Mary Elizabeth Dieckmann Reinemer, she was a school teacher for Hillsboro schools and a member of the First Baptist Church of Cape Girardeau. She was also a member of Viburnum Garden Club, O.E.S. Cape Rock Chapter No. 60, WMU at the First Baptist Church of Cape Girardeau and Cape Republican Women.

She married John Hahn who preceded her in death.

Also preceding her in death were her son, Congressman N. William "Bill" Emerson, and one sister, Alice Dietrich.

Survivors include: her daughter-in-law, U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson of Cape Girardeau; and four granddaughters, three stepchildren, six stepgrandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held Thursday at Dietric-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto with the Rev. Bruce Levine officiating.

Burial followed in the Hillsboro Cemetery in Hillsboro.
