PORTAGEVILLE - The body of a fisherman was recovered early today from the Mississippi River.
Authorities reported the body of a man was found at 6:38 a.m. today in the river by rescue workers who were beginning their third day of searching. The name of the victim had not yet been released by the New Madrid County Sheriff's Department at press time today.
Reportedly the man fell from a fishing boat Saturday afternoon. A search began Saturday and continued Sunday until called off due to darkness.
