Ralph Stockton
DEXTER - Ralph Stockton, 90, died Aug. 23, 2002, at the home of his daughter.
Born June 23, 1912, at Sesser, Ill., son of the late Hayes and Rachel Bates Stockton, he had lived in Sesser and Benton, Ill., most of his life before moving to Dexter four years ago. A retired coal miner and an employee of Mars Candy Company in the 1940s, he was a member of the First Church of God in Dexter and the United Mine Workers of America.
On June 6, 1938, in Benton, Ill., he married Ella Barton who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Ronald Stockton of Dearborn, Mich.; one daughter, Dee Patterson of Dexter; and eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Noble Stockton and Floyd Stockton; and six sisters, Nora Taylor, Alice Bradley, Martha Stockton, Mae Eisenhart, Freda Eubanks and Sadie Robinson.
Visitation is after 12:30 p.m. today at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home in Benton, Ill., where services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Rick Patterson of Dexter officiating.
Burial will follow in the Horse Prairie Cemetery near Sesser with Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter in charge of local arrangements.
