Arthur Rowden

CHARLESTON - Arthur L.C. Rowden, 82, of rural Charleston, died at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 22, 20002, at the Bertrand Retirement Center.

Born July 17, 1920, at Pinhook, son of the late Willie and Ella Adkins Rowden, he was a retired employee of First Security State Bank in Charleston and a member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and usher.

On July 17, 1966, he married Mary Hawkins who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Joyce Rowden of St. Louis; two brothers, Marion "M.C." Gray of St. Louis and Marvin Gray of Los Angeles, Calif.; and two sisters, Louise Merriweather of Bloomington, Ill., and Ruby Gray of St. Louis.

Visitation is from noon Tuesday at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church until time of services at 1 p.m. with his nephew, the Rev. Keith Gray of St. Louis, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston with Sparks Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
