Skeeter Howard

JEFFERSON CITY - Otis "Skeeter" Howard, 61, died April 26, 2002, at the Capitol Regional Medical Center.

Born Sept. 21, 1941, in Charleston, son of the late Tommy and Sadie Montgomery Howard, he lived in Buffalo, N.Y., before moving to Jefferson City seven years ago.

His wife, Alease Taylor Howard, survives of St. Louis.

Other survivors include: five sons, Curtis Howard and Kennedy Coleman of Jefferson City, Kevin Howard of East St. Louis, Ill., and Michael Smith and James Howard of Buffalo; two daughters, Shelia Jackson of Cleveland, Ohio, and Gloria Howard of St. Louis; four brothers, Sam Howard of Buffalo, Floyd Howard and Otha Lee Howard of Chicago, Ill., and Richard Howard of Bertrand; one sister, Rosie Lee Taylor of Grenada, Miss.; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. Friday until service time at 1 p.m. at St. Mark Baptist Church in Charleston. The Rev. Wiley Reed will officiate.

Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.

Sparks Funeral Home of Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
