EAST PRAIRIE - Charles Preston Anderson, 75, died at 8:06 p.m. Feb. 1, 2005, at his home. Born March 6, 1929, in Charleston, son of the late Kirb and Vern Baker Anderson, he lived in Mississippi County most of his life and was of the Baptist belief. Before retiring from the U.S. Army, he was a paratrooper in the special forces unit during the Korean War...

EAST PRAIRIE - Charles Preston Anderson, 75, died at 8:06 p.m. Feb. 1, 2005, at his home.

Born March 6, 1929, in Charleston, son of the late Kirb and Vern Baker Anderson, he lived in Mississippi County most of his life and was of the Baptist belief. Before retiring from the U.S. Army, he was a paratrooper in the special forces unit during the Korean War.

Survivors include: four daughters and sons-in-law, Pattie and Roger York of East Prairie, Charlene and Johnny Newman of Tacoma, Wash., Sheri and Dan Perez of West Covina, Calif., and Becky and Dan Lee of Pacifica, Calif.; one brother, Bill Anderson of Charleston; three sisters, Betty Walker, Frances Lingle and Jerry Barnes of East Prairie; and 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, C.K. "Dick" Anderson, and two sisters, Juanita Holder and Dorothy Anderson.

Visitation begins at 5 p.m. Friday at Shelby Funeral Home.

The Missouri Military Honors Program will conduct military rites during graveside services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie. George White will conduct the graveside service.
