City rules on yard sales

SIKESTON -- Yard and garage sales are fun, but each city has its own set of rules. Contact the city hall for information about a particular city.

The following are a few rules about garage sales in the city of Sikeston:

-- Sikeston residents are limited to six garage sales a year.

-- Two or three consecutive sales are considered one sale. For example, a sale on Thursday, Friday and Saturday is one sale; but a sale Friday, Saturday and Monday would be considered two sales.

-- Garage/yard sale advertisements cannot be fastened to public property such as light poles.

-- Technically, those who have garage sales are supposed to call the city hall and let officials know of each planned sale.
