SIKESTON - Three Sikeston residents remain in custody after being arrested by the Sikeston Department of Public Safety for allegedly selling marijuana.

According to reports from DPS, a Sikeston drug detective and patrol officers went to 723 Matthews St. Wednesday to check on information received that an individual was selling marijuana from the home, which is situated within 2,000 feet of Sikeston Senior High School.

When the officers asked for Eric Farrell, 31, the suspect left through the rear entrance of the home, at which time he was taken into custody and arrested for two sales of marijuana.

Permission was given to DPS to search the house. Seized were several bags filled with marijuana, a marijuana growing operation and numerous pipes, bongs and other paraphernalia. The packaged marijuana weighed 4 ounces and the grow operation had one 5-foot marijuana plant, several grow lights and planting/gardening materials associated with cultivating marijuana.

Farrell has been charged by Scott County Prosecutor Paul Boyd with two counts of distribution of a controlled substance within 2,000 feet of a school, one count of intent to distribute a controlled substance and one count of attempt to manufacture a controlled substance. He was transported to Scott County Jail with bond set at $200,000.

A man and woman were arrested Thursday by DPS after a search warrant was executed at Apartment 4, 535 N. Ranney St. DPS received a tip from a concerned citizen that marijuana was being used and sold from that residence.

After several weeks of investigation, DPS narcotics officers had obtained probable cause for a search warrant. Stephanie Miles, 30, and Cletus Rhoden, 41, were at home when the search warrant was served. Narcotics officers found approximately 3 ounces of packaged marijuana and about $1,000 cash during the search. They were arrested and are being held on Scott County warrants for possession with intent to distribute. Bond for each is set at $100,000.

Anyone with information about these incidents or any criminal activity is asked to call DPS at 471-6200 or 471-1500. All communications are confidential.
