ESSEX -- Martin Herron Gaylord, 90, died April 26, 2007, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born Oct. 10, 1916 in Sharon, Tenn., son of the late Edgar and Bessie Martin Gaylord, he was a member and deacon at Grayridge Baptist Church, a retired farmer of many years and a former school bus driver with Richland Public School District.
On Sept. 16, 1939, in Blytheville, Ark., he married Velma Laverne Hall who preceded him in death on June 27, 1998.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Virlin "Buz" Gaylord.
Survivors include two sons, Barry Gaylord of Huntsville, Ala., and Randy Gaylord of Essex; two daughters, Myra Riddle of New Albany, Miss., and Brenda Stuckey of Little Rock, Ark.; one brother, Woodrow Gaylord of Essex; and four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday with the Revs. Ronnie Ledbetter and Robert Lafferty officiating.
Burial will follow at the Essex Cemetery.
