SIKESTON - Temperatures in Sikeston changed 40 degrees from a low of 40 in the morning to a high of 83.
SIKESTON - The city council adopted a $759,010 budget for fiscal 1967-68 with provisions to increase all city salaries an average of 4 percent. The new budget represents an increase of $64,290 over the 1966-67 budget.
SIKESTON - A liquor store license allowing a store owner to sell his business to somebody with assurance that the new owner would receive a liquor license passed in city council action Monday night.
BENTON - Three Scott County fire departments battled a grass fire Tuesday afternoon for more than two hours, according to the Scott County Sheriff's Department. The report of the fire was received about 1:55 p.m. Tuesday. Firefighters from Morley, Oran and the NBC District responded to the blaze on County Road 346 off Highway 77, east of Benton and north of Kelly School. There were no structures damaged and no injuries reported.
SIKESTON - The AMC Band of Mid-American Lincoln-land Brass held a free concert at Malone Park Saturday afternoon. Several music lovers came to listen to the band perform a variety of musical styles at the park gazebo.
SIKESTON - On Sunday at approximately 5 p.m. Wal-Mart personnel reported a female had left the store with $1,300 in fishing tackle, compact discs, clothing and cosmetics. The items were removed from the store in a large trash can.
LOS ANGELES (AP) - The average price of gasoline, including all grades and taxes, dropped more than a half-cent a gallon from April 11, to about $1.27 on Friday, according to the Lundberg Survey of 10,000 stations nationwide. Overall, gas prices have fallen more than 3 1/2 cents per gallon so far this year.
