The Charleston tennis team dropped to 0-7 on the season with an 8-1 loss to Poplar Bluff on Thursday.
Michael Rodriguez was the only winner for the Bluejays, defeating Ryan Clark 8-6.
"They're probably the second best team we played behind Cape Central," said Charleston head coach Mitch Baker. "I'm impressed with their team. They're real solid up and down the lineup. Their foreign exchange student (Jitse DeHaan) from Holland was really impressive."
DeHaan beat Lee Hess 8-2. In other singles matches, Kandarp Bhatt beat Jonathan Holley 8-0, Josh Riggs beat Kyle Kemp 8-1, Youseph Haiderzad beat Ryan Moxley 8-4 and Nathan Killpack beat Cole Reichert 8-3.
In doubles, Holley and Hess lost 8-3 to Bhatt and Riggs. Rodriguez and Kemp lost 8-3 to DeHaan and Haiderzad 8-3 and Moxley and Jake Garrard lost 8-4 to Killpack and Clark.
Garrard won a singles match in jayvee action. Reichert and Jason Groves won a doubles match on the junior varsity.
Charleston will host Ballard County, Ky., on Monday at 4 p.m.
