Sikeston's golf team defeated Malden on Thursday, 166-175.
Senior Brandon Couch was the low medalist, firing a three-over-par 39.
"Brandon said he started weak on the first two holes at three over," explained Sikeston coach Rick Oetting. "He then focused on the remainder of the game and pared the remaining holes. That was a tremendous feat when you take into account the 25 to 30 mile an hour winds."
Sikeston also saw Brandon Couch finish at 39, followed by Jonathan Spence at 42, Tanner Fritz at 42, while Brandon DeWitt and John Fuchs came in tied at 43.
Malden was led by McLead at 44, followed by Embry at 42, Blake at 45, and Kennedy at 44.
Sikeston won the junior varsity match 188-221. Matt Hon led the charge with a 44, followed by Clint Bohannon at 47, Taylor Killion at 48, and Ben Jones at 49.
The Bulldogs host 14 teams in the Sikeston Invitational this coming Monday at 1 p.m. at the Sikeston Country Club.
Cape quadrangular
CAPE GIRARDEAU - New Madrid County Central's golf team took fourth place in Cape Central's golf quad on Thursday, collecting 183 team points.
Jackson won the event with a score of 154, followed by Notre Dame at 159, and Cape Central at 161.
"We were on spring break last week, and didn't play any matches," said NMCC coach Sherry Copeland. "We had our first match back yesterday and played really bad. Today, we were 12 strokes better, but it was still a disappointment. It was a tough day."
Everett Gee led the Eagles with a 40 on the par-35 course. Trey Edwards checked in with a 46, followed by Sam Coppage at 48, and Shane Grissom and Grant Atchley at 49.
"I don't know what's going on with my top players," said Copeland. "It seems like they have one bad hole, and it throws their whole game off. Everett Gee has been very consistent for me the last two matches, but one player can't do it alone. It has to be a team effort."
Jackson's scores came from Payton Sims (36), Matt Litz (39), Kyle Perry (38), and Rhett Butler (41).
Notre Dame scorers were Tim Buereck (36), Ryan Hannan (40), Nick Martin (41), and Lucas Kline (42).
Cape Central scorers were Ty Grambling (39), Nick Harter (40), Tyson Seabaugh (40) and Luke Oliver (42).
NMCC will travel to Jackson today for a triangular match with Notre Dame.
