SIKESTON -- Royce Edward Yerges, 80, entered into his eternal rest at 4:26 a.m. April 28, 2007, surrounded by his loving family at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Sept. 30, 1926, in Portland, Wis., to the late Edward F. and Martha Hahn Yerges. Royce was an avid hunter and fisherman, instilling the love of the outdoors in his children and grandchildren. He had been employed by Pella Window Company and during his retirement worked for 14 years as treasurer of Water District No. 1 for the public water system in Sikeston. He attended the First Christian Church of Sikeston.
On Sept. 22, 1964, in Poplar Bluff, he married Virginia Brink who survives of the home.
In addition to this wife, he is survived by: five sons and daughters-in-law, Lacy and Darlene Edwards of Big Spring, Texas, Leslie and Tammy Yerges of Greensboro, N.C., Duane and Alicia Yerges of Necedah, Wis., Daryl and Mary Yerges of Reedsburg, Wis., and Stan and Linda Yerges of FonduLac, Wis.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Frank Lawrence of Bridgeview, Ill., and Sharon and Dale Duncan of Sikeston; and 18 grandchildren and 26 great-
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Patty Yerges; two brothers, Milton Yerges and Elmer Yerges; and two sisters, Florence Springer and Alice Krebs.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. this evening at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Ed Pangburn of Sikeston officiating.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
