Hershel Akridge
CATRON -- Hershel Akridge, 89, died May 5, 2007, at his home in Catron.
Born April 25, 1918, in Gideon, son of the late James and Lenor Presson, he was a farm laborer.
In 1940, he married Kathren Tanner who preceded him in death.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers, three sisters, one daughter, one grandson and one great-grandson.
Survivors include: four sons, Freddie Akridge of Catron, Earshel Akridge of Parma, Wayne Akridge of Bartlett, Tenn., and Ricky Akridge of Hohnwald, Tenn.; eight daughters, Gearldine Kodian of Orville, Calif., Lola Barks of Dexter, Joyce Haddock of Waynesboro, Tenn., Stella Simmons of Catron, Betty Lawson of Fordland, Tenn., Linda Parker of Independence, Kathy Schaffer of Seymour, Tenn., and Sherry Howard of New Madrid; and 27 grandchildren, 33 great-
grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services were conducted today at Ponder Funeral Home in Lilbourn. The Rev. Jim Johnson officiated.
Burial followed in Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton.
Pallbearers were Vielth Williams and his grandsons, Tracy Akridge, Gene Simmons, Shawn Simmons, Benji Akridge and Billy Akridge.
