SIKESTON - The Sikeston Bulldogs tennis team fell to 8-7 on the season as they lost a home match to Carbondale (Ill.) 7-2 on Wednesday.

"Carbondale has a solid team, probably the best team we've seen all year, top to bottom," said Sikeston coach Brian James. "Matches like this will only help us going into the districts. I thought Marc (Leible) played about as well as he has all year against a very good player. He was focused the whole match and when he's on like that, he's an awfully tough player. He's had to really step up his game the past couple of weeks with the competition he's faced and he's been up to the challenge most days."
